Despite cultural diversity, sayings and proverbs exist in all cultures, presenting homologous concepts from one language to another.
Alongside the popular wisdom in sayings, refrains, and proverbs, the metal rescued from candle cups during the making of this work, reminds us of the role the candle played in the human act of wishing before a fire—a common practice worldwide and throughout history.
Both imperishable customs appear in this work, embroidered in nine languages: Spanish, English, French, Esperanto, Polish, Portuguese, Italian, German, and Japanese—together with an interaction notebook where people can leave their own proverb—all of them representing the diversity of wishing, and knowing.
